Who's behind it

Joseph Hardin

Joseph Hardin is the principal of Hardin Systems LLC, a New Orleans–based managed services provider delivering managed IT, cybersecurity, and infrastructure services across the Gulf Coast. With 20+ years of infrastructure and MSP experience spanning network engineering, Windows Server and Active Directory, virtualization, Azure cloud, and security operations, Joseph brings a hands-on, defense-oriented approach to protecting client environments.

His day-to-day work runs the full stack — Azure and Entra ID identity, WatchGuard firewalls with AuthPoint MFA, SentinelOne EDR, Wazuh SIEM, Proxmox virtualization, and Microsoft 365 administration — for clients ranging from consulting firms to nonprofits. The certifications below aren't line items on a résumé; each one reflects capabilities Hardin Systems delivers in production every day.

The credentials

What each certification puts on the table.

A closer look at the two credentials that define the Hardin Systems security practice.

CompTIA CySA+

Earned · DoD 8140/8570 Approved

An intermediate, DoD-approved certification focused on defensive security operations and threat detection. It validates the ability to actively hunt threats and respond — not just install tools and hope.

  • Continuous security monitoring — analyzing logs, network traffic, and endpoint telemetry to detect malicious activity, reflected in the Wazuh SIEM, SentinelOne EDR, and Microsoft Graph monitoring stacks Hardin Systems deploys.
  • Threat & vulnerability management — identifying, prioritizing, and remediating vulnerabilities across client infrastructure.
  • Incident response & investigation — applying structured processes to contain and eradicate threats.
  • Threat intelligence — using behavioral analytics and IoCs to anticipate attacks rather than react to them.
  • Compliance & reporting — generating the evidence and documentation needed for frameworks like SOC 2.
What it means for clients: your security is managed by an analyst trained to tune detection tooling and respond decisively. CySA+ carries weight in regulated and government-adjacent environments where DoD-approved credentials are a baseline requirement.

CISSP

In Progress · Mid 2026

The industry's premier security leadership certification, targeted for completion in mid-2026. Where CySA+ proves hands-on defensive capability, CISSP establishes strategic security leadership across all eight domains of the field.

  • Governance & risk management — designing security programs aligned to business risk, not just technical checklists.
  • Security architecture & engineering — building defense-in-depth into infrastructure from the ground up across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Vendor & regulatory credibility — frequently a contractual or insurance prerequisite, and satisfies DoD 8140 requirements at the management level.
  • Whole-organization perspective — moving from "securing systems" to "securing the business," including policy, personnel, and compliance strategy.
What CISSP adds: the strategic breadth to architect and govern a complete security program — pairing the technical depth to detect and respond with the leadership to design policy, manage risk, and meet the standards larger contracts and insurers demand.
